Day 1

Arrival Day: Santiago – Easter Island

Upon arrival at the Mataveri Airport on Easter Island, assistance and transfer (SIB) to your hotel.

Day 2

Anakena and Rapa Nui’s Lost civilization

This tour takes us first to an unrestored ahu (ancient ceremonial platform), Ahu Vaihu, located in the Bay of Hanga Te’e on the South Coast of the island, witness to a phase of destruction a few centuries ago. Continue to the region of the Ahu Akahanga, legend accounts that the tomb of famous Ariki (king) Hotu Matua is located next to this Ahu. Later you will reach one of the most important sites of the Rapa Nui culture, the quarry of Rano Raraku, where a total of approx. 900 statues are found, 397 of them still lying down or standing up at different stages of its construction. Proceed to the Ahu Tongariki, restored in 1995, with its 15-foot statues. Also, visit the “navel of the world”, together with the Ahu Te Pito Kura.

Arrival at Anakena beach to find two platforms, Ahu Nau Nau and attached Ahu Huki. You can also appreciate the warm waters of the Pacific lounging on the beach under palm trees. Return to the hotel.

Day 3

Rano Kau – Orongo

During this half-day ascent to the extinct Rano Kau volcano, you’ll enjoy a superb full view of the island, its coastline, and volcanoes as well as the town of Hanga Roa. The second viewpoint to visit lets you appreciate the crater of Rano Kau with its totora-covered lagoon. Proceed to the ceremonial village of Orongo, a site where the competition of the Tangata Manu (birdman) took place. Visit the Ahu Vinapu with its architecture remnant to the constructions of the pre-Inca people. At the end of his half-day tour, visit the Ana Kai Tangata caves decorated with paintings with motifs of the manutara, (bird). This cave is a reflection of a mysterious ancient culture. Another half-day tour includes a visit to the platform of Ahu Akivi, composed of seven Moais, all facing the sea. These seven statues represent the seven explorers who supposedly came to the island to see if it was a good living place for King Hotu Matu’a. View the Ana Te pahu cave, place where Rapa Nui’s life formerly developed. The cave is approximately 200 m long with vegetation inside and even furnaces called “Umu Pae”. Visit the Puna Pau crater, where the pukao (red top hats) were carved. From this point, you can view the current plantations of vegetables and the beautiful town of Hanga Roa. Evening return to your hotel.

Día 2
La civilización perdida de Anakena y Rapa Nui

Este recorrido nos lleva primero a Ahu sin restaurar (antigua plataforma ceremonial), Ahu Vaihu, ubicada en la Bahía de Hanga Te’e en la costa sur de la isla, fue testigo de una fase de destrucción hace unos siglos. Continúa hacia la región del Ahu Akahanga, relatos legendarios de que la tumba del famoso Ariki (rey) Hotu Matua se encuentra al lado de este Ahu. Más tarde llegará a uno de los sitios más importantes de la cultura Rapa Nui, la cantera de Rano Raraku, donde un total de aprox. Se encuentran 900 estatuas, 397 de ellas aún acostadas o de pie en diferentes etapas de su construcción. Proceda al Ahu Tongariki, restaurado en 1995, con sus estatuas de 15 pies. Además, visite el “ombligo del mundo”, junto con el Ahu Te Pito Kura.

Llegada a la playa de Anakena para encontrar dos plataformas, Ahu Nau Nau y Ahu Huki. También puede apreciar las cálidas aguas del Pacífico descansando en la playa bajo palmeras. Regreso al hotel.

Día 3
Rano Kau – Orongo

Durante este ascenso de medio día al extinto volcán Rano Kau, disfrutará de una magnífica vista completa de la isla, su costa y sus volcanes, así como de la ciudad de Hanga Roa. El segundo mirador para visitar te permite apreciar el cráter de Rano Kau con su laguna cubierta de totora. Proceda a la aldea ceremonial de Orongo, un sitio donde tuvo lugar la competencia del Tangata Manu (hombre pájaro). Visite el Ahu Vinapu con su arquitectura remanente a las construcciones de los pueblos preincaicos. Al final de su recorrido de medio día, visite las cuevas de Ana Kai Tangata decoradas con pinturas con motivos de la manutara, (pájaro). Esta cueva es un reflejo de una misteriosa cultura antigua. Otro recorrido de medio día incluye una visita a la plataforma de Ahu Akivi, compuesta por siete Moais, todos frente al mar. Estas siete estatuas representan a los siete exploradores que supuestamente vinieron a la isla para ver si era un buen lugar para vivir para el Rey Hotu Matu’a. Vea la cueva de Ana Te pahu, donde se desarrolló la vida de Rapa Nui. La cueva tiene aproximadamente 200 m de largo con vegetación en el interior e incluso hornos llamados “Umu Pae”.
